In 19 b.c., Agrippa built a 20-km canal to bring waters from the Acqua Virginae to his baths. In addition to the Trevi Fountain, these waters also supply the fountains in the Piazza di Spagna, the Piazza Farnese, and the Piazza Navona. The original fountain was a simple design by L. B. Alberti. In 1758, Clement X commissioned Nicola Salvi to create a new terminus. His design incorporated a triumphal arch into the entire façade of the Palazzo Poli. In the center, two tritons conduct the chariot of Neptune. Figures of Health (left) and Abundance (right) are in the side niches. Above these are the four seasons; at the top, the Corsini family coat of arms.
