13"x19" signed print: archival pigmented inks on matte watercolor paper

The Teatro Marcello was built by Augustus and dedicated to his nephew, Marcello, who died in 23 b.c. Restored in the sixteenth century by Peruzzi, its superimposed arcades were influential in Renaissance design. Doric columns appeared on the ground level, Ionic on the second, and Corinthian (which no longer exist) above. The Orsini family built their palace over the remaining antique arcades. The photograph includes the columns of the Temple of Apollo (443 b.c.) and the dome of S. Maria in Campitelli.
