The elevated Haas Promenade, south of the Old City, offers a spectacular view of Jerusalem and the surrounding hills. In the foreground is the Peace Forest. Beyond the Forest, in the left mid-ground is Abu Tor, the biblical Hill of Evil Council. At the horizon to the left is Mount Zion and the Church of the Dormition. In the center are the Old City and the Kidron Valley. At the far right is the Mount of Olives with the spire of the Russian Church of the Ascension. From this prominent hill (or one close by), accessible from the ancient Hebron Road, it is conceivable that Abraham "On the third day, lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar off." (Gen. 22:4)
