13"x19" signed print: archival pigmented inks on matte watercolor paper

Constantine built this arch in 315 to commemorate his victory over Maxentius at Ponte Molle. Like several other fourth-century buildings, it was partially constructed of fragments of second-century monuments. The arch was restored to its present condition in 1804. The Temple of Venus and Rome is at the left. The view is of the southwest façade from a position on the Via S. Gregorio.
